The community organization activities of VGKK at Yelandur, Kollegal-Hanur, and Chamarajanagar Taluks of the district are conducted through the respective Soliga Abivruddhi Sangha, registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act 1960. The main objective is to organize the Soliga people for collective action and develop awareness among them. VGKK acts as a guide and facilitator in promoting community organization through the Sangha.

Objectives:

• Organize the tribal people to address their problems through solidarity.
• Inculcate the spirit of self-help and co-operation.
• Fight for implementation of constitutional rights of the tribal people.
• Promote tribal culture and restore traditions such as nyaya (justice)

The struggle for land distribution and community rights have come a long way and has been fruitful. Landmark events are land entitlements to families in BRT Tiger Reserve and MM Hills Wildlife  sanctuary

Celebration of Children’s Day in 2021

Harvest International School, Bengaluru celebrated Children’s Day with the children of Soliga’s Tribes in BR Hills. In the event, in which the stationery items, chocolates and gifts were distributed.

International Women’s Day celebration

On 8th March 2022, we celebrated the International Women’s Day on the theme “Gender Equality Today for A Sustainable Tomorrow”. 35 women from the local communities participated in the event where a few women community leaders shared their inspirational journeys. Games and cultural events were also part of the Women’s Day celebrations.

Fundraising Campaign

In 2021, we ran a fundraising campaign specifically to strengthen the existing infrastructure of the VTHC. An amount Rs. 8,38,076.00 was raised. Additionally, we also received the following list of items/ equipment during the campaign.
